AF Algarve 2ª Divisão 2011/12

ALJEZURENSE  1 –  1  SERRANO

Last Saturday’s friendly against Serrano was in fact a good work out for Aljezurense and again, more new players were on show.

The match started with left back African in goal as the goal keeper arrived late. Aljezure played some good football and their fast flowing moves gave them the edge.  It was not long before they were in front.

Good interchanging between the mid field found Joao Luis free 25m out and he lashed a fierce shot past the keeper, a fine goal.

In the heat Aljezurense played well and should have gone further ahead but were thwarted by some good goalkeeping and luck.  Half time 1-0 Aljezurense.

The second half saw many changes as the new coach tried the new blood, this does not always help the football but a must for pre seasons.  Serrano had a habit of being able to stop play with some cynical fouls until the referee booked 2 of their players which did seem to stop it.

Serrano scored the equaliser mid second half when a ball was not cleared well and the unmarked forward scored past the advancing Toco in goal.

Aljezurense were in fact the better side but missed opportunities meant the score remained level at the final whistle.

ALJEZURENSE  3  -0  SANLUIZENSE – S.LUIS ( ODEMIRA )        24/9/11

Aljezurense continued their pre season warm up games with a home game against SANLUIZENSE – S.LUIS ( ODEMIRA).

The home team played some excellent football at times and the new players appear to be settling in well. The visitors who had the biggest goalkeeper seen yet at the Municipal Campo made some excellent saves and for a time keptthescores level until a fine ball from mid field found the head of an Aljezure attacker and a fine header into the top corner beating the out stretched keepers hand.

Changes at half time gave the home team more fluid movement and soon Aljezurense were 3 nil up, both goals well taken and gives hope for the coming season.

We apologise for lack of names of players but there are so many changes we are yet to see the full squad  list of names and numbers.

Simao sadly, was missing from the team on Saturday, but he was at the game sporting a bruised knee.

Further news of any fixtures will be advertised on this web page as and when we are informed.

Juventude Clube Aljezurense – Established 1969

Aljezurense are the local Football Club that Amovate have sponsored for their player of the year trophy for the last 3 seasons.

A growing group of ex pats have followed the team home and away over this time and have not only visited parts of the Algarve that they would not have normally discovered but also thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Unfortunately Aljezurense were relegated last season and this year start their season on 15th October 2011 in the Cup at home to Taveira K.O. to be advised.

The league start will follow on the 22nd October 2011 with the first match away against CDR Quarteirense

Why not join the supporters and have a good afternoon out.  At home games,  the entrance fee is paid by entering a raffle and we pay generally a Euro or two for the privilege.  Last season, at away games, a fee of €2.50 was charged.

Most games as you would guess are played in fantastic weather and you can top up the tan whilst cheering on the team.

Just to get you warmed up for the season, if you use the link:

AGM 2011

At the AGM which took place on the 6th October 2011, Members almost voted in the new committee unanimously,  (The New Committee) but there were 2 who abstained.

Details of the AGM will be posted shortly on this site but we are pleased to announce that the membership has already increased by 18%. And what is particularly satisfying is that a high proportion of this increase is made up of local Portuguese residents either rejoining or becoming new members who see Amovate as an important tool in the fight to have more resources directed towards Vale da Telha and the surrounding areas.

Meetings have taken place recently with prominent people who have major concerns as to the general conditions of Vale Da Telha.

Three new members have been added to last year’s committee; Gabriel Reis as Vice President of the Committee, and 2 prominent Developers in Vale Da Telha, Armindo Santos Almeida & Alvaro Figueiredo as members of the committee.

Discussions with these new members have been taking place over the past few weeks and at a meeting with the President & Vice President of the Camara and others this week, we forcibly voiced our concerns about lack of improvements, repairs and cleaning of the area. A wide range of subjects were discussed and the Camara President suggested that we present to him a list of areas of work that we would like the Camara to carry out.

The new Amovate committee will pull together a wish list of improvements that we think will benefit all and forge together with the Camara a real way forward to achieving our goals. Please bear in mind that the Camara, like all the authorities in Portugal is working under servere financial restraints. But we believe that it is time more of the considerable amounts of money flowing down the hill from Vale Da Telha, Arrifana, Espartal, Vales, Pasaigem Oceano etc and into the Camara coffers flowed back up the hill–certainly a fairer percentage, which we suspect has rarely been the case in the past.

The Final list of these items that we will be taking to the Camara will be publicised for all to see, hopefully before the end of October on this Web Site.

With our new goals we need greater support as numbers will be our strength. We all need to encourage people to join Amovate to give more Political clout to our cause and we ask that you pass on the good word which hopefully will help increase the membership.

Spine Yoga Classes

Spine Yoga Classes start on Tuesday 11th October.

Classes will be Tuesdays – 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm

Fridays – 10:00 am – 11:30 am

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My name is Neelam Kovalik-Deak, I am from Hungary and I have been living here in Portugal for 6 years with my son, Ananda.
I am a yoga teacher, I have 20 years experience with practising yoga and I have been teaching yoga for 2 years.  I was 18 years old when I started dealing with hatha yoga and raja yoga then I kept on studying yoga on the Buddhist college in Budapest as a yoga teacher. Last year I went back to Budapest to participate in a course of spine yoga which is a blend between traditional hatha yoga and modern movement therapies, and I have the intention to introduce spine yoga to people who want to have a better quality of life.
I am proposing holding classes (probably on a Friday) at the Schoolhouse in Vales.  The duration of a lesson is 1.5 hours and the price is €9 if it is suitable to you. I prefer dealing with small groups – because of the efficiency of teaching – which is about 8 people.
If you are interested, or would like more information, please contact Neelam on 918938015
