“All the children at the orphanage now have their Christmas boxes ready for delivery to them, so it has been another successful operation by the organisers. Thank you to all of you who have made a contribution”
Leni Eves has been in touch again over her recent appeal to say six of the children at the orphanage still have no Christmas box this year.
Leni writes:
“I recently sent out names and ages of children in the Caslas Orphanage so that anyone who wished could make up a shoebox of Christmas gifts for a particular child.
A lovely lady called Lois Herrington delivers the boxes to the children each year and I take them down to her from Vale da Telha.
Unfortunately, I had a sad email from her yesterday telling me that 6 children ( 3 boys and 3 girls ) still had no Christmas box this year.
If anyone could help, please would you email Lois on:
so that she could tell you the name, age and size of a child who hasn’t yet been chosen.
I’ve arranged to take the shoeboxes down to Lagos next Friday morning as Lois is delivering them to the Caslas Home on Saturday. She travels to England after that.
If you can help you can drop your shoe box off at my house, L 174, Vale da Telha by Friday morning or you can contact me on my mobile, 91 254 7198, or home 282 995 366.
So there is a very small window of opportunity to make sure no child is in the awful position of being left out. They don’t have very much to make their lives a bit special. If you are able and willing to help, please contact Lois to arrange details. All I would ask is that you decorate a shoe box with Christmas paper, putting the child’s name (perhaps on a Christmas card on the top).
There are many simple gifts that would fit in a shoebox – ie: t-shirts, socks (Lois has sizes), torches, sports water bottles, toiletries, sweets etc.
Thank you for reading this far and thank you again if you can help.
