The season started almost where it left off last term, with Toco in goal having a magnificent game, in a match that Aljezurense took some time to get into, and which saw the ball see-saw to each side.

Left back 20 André was having some success down the left side with 7 Fernandes in support and midway through the second half they combined well.  Fernandes released André on a run and he fired past the advancing keeper to give Aljezurense the lead.

This seemed to give Aljezurense some inspiration and they put some good passes together but poor defending down the right gave the opposition a chance only to be thwarted by Toco.

Fabinho 5 had a great chance to increase the lead but a poor shot was smothered by the keeper, halftime 0-1.

Fernandes was replaced at halftime by 69 Gomes who had had a good pre-season and Aljezurense continued to press, 10 Cottingham had two great chances but his attempts were cleared. The home side pressed well and Toco in goal showed his superior class and made three one on one saves to keep Aljezure in front.

Hanging on in injury time to the 3 points,  69 Gomes was released down the left and his dazzling run past 2 defenders drew the keeper, and his perfect cross shot beat the keeper and nestled in the far side netting, to give Aljezurense  a fine well earned victory.

Good displays by 15 Kieran in the centre of defence and André,  gave some good structure to the back four, but some work is required to the general playing pattern especially in midfield. to ensure the ball is kept and easier victories are achieved.
