Ladies Day – Saturday 18th June

Hats off to the ladies at Royal Ascot

It’s Ladies’ Day at Royal Ascot, time once again for the fashion heavyweights and the sartorially challenged to showcase their millinery know-how and their fabulous frocks.

Royal Ascot is the social event of the British racing and royal calendar.

The crowds come out for the prestigious horse racing, of course, and to see the Queen and other members of the royal family.

But the real spectacle of Royal Ascot is the fashion parade of Ladies’ Day. Hats are de riguer and they range from thebizarre to the beautiful. But, usually, the more outrageous the better it is.

Whoa, hold your horses!

Did we say ASCOT?

Sorry, we meant Amovate!

Yes, we’re once again having our own Ladies Day during Royal Ascot, not on the Gold Cup Day, but on the Saturday, 18th June, starting at 2:30 pm.

Sadly, the Queen has had her private secretary inform us that she can’t make it to Vale da Telha this year.

But we can still promise you some right royal entertainment!

The delights in store include head-topping, head-turning hats and fascinators, and the choice is yours—to view or be viewed!

And they´re off

At some point in the afternoon there will be a glamour parade of the hats and the frocks, with an independent judge awarding prizes (i.e. bottles of bubbly) to those he or she judges to be the most outstanding.

Pictures of the parade and the winners will also be featured here on the website, free to download.

So, Ladies, come along to Amovate’s own Ladies Day on Saturday June 18th at the Old Schoolhouse, and either take part in the fashion parade or just sit in the sun (at least, we hope it’ll be sunny – there are provisions to move inside should the weather be inclement !) – sip your drinks, and enjoy the spectacular spectacle.

Just to add to the fun and try to recreate some of that Ascot atmosphere we’ll also be holding some races on the football pitch, with the course already marked out!

For each race you can buy a horse, and / or the jockey, or you can simply place a bet on the horse you hope will be the eventual winner. It’s the same format as in previous years when everyone had a hugely enjoyable time.

You are very welcome to bring your own gazebos if you wish, to protect yourselves from the sun. But if you do could you please set them up slightly set back from the concrete ‘race track’ so everyone can see the races as they progress, with an uninterrupted view.

You are also welcome to bring your own food and picnic hampers but, please, NOT YOUR OWN DRINKS!
