AMOVATE is planning a new headline event for the Vale da Telha and Aljezur areas…a Summer Ball.

Amovate’s Committee has drawn up a project to involve more local businesses in the association’s social activities with a view to supporting them through the current tough economic climate.

And, with the assistance of Bruno at the Vale da Telha Hotel on the Pines Roundabout, it is proposed to hold the Summer Ball in the rather lovely marquee in the hotel grounds at a date yet to be confirmed but hopefully either Saturday July 16^th or Saturday July 23^rd.

Bruno has kindly made the marquee available to Amovate for any events we wish to hold, and it is expected that there will be further functions there in a rather more “swish” environment than we can provide at the Old School House.

But, working with those local businesses which sponsor Amovate we are planning to take more events into the Community to help support those businesses, mostly through the quieter months.

One annual event that will remain at The Old School House is the Vale da Telha Music Festival which this year will be held on Saturday August 25^th. And Bob and Ogy’s Christmas Grotto and Hallowe’en events will also be back there later in the year.

The names of the bands taking part in the Music Festival will be announced once we have confirmed the bookings. But we will be repeating last year’s successful formula of staging this outdoor Music Festival in the evening, offering free admission, with a selection of bars and food concessions (again provided by local businesses) around the perimeter.

We are also working with Antonio at the Karisma to stage an event in, hopefully in May; with Hugo at the Piranha Bar for an event later in the year; with Jose at the Vale da Telha Restaurant for a Portuguese evening in October, with dancing to live music, and; with the Por do Sol on the headland at Arrifana for a midsummer sunset party.

So, keep an eye out for more information about these events and join us in supporting your local businesses through these difficult times.

Amovate member Trevor Herrington is in the chorus mainly to help with the singing plus a minor role as a possible suitor for the lovely Princess Jasmine (He gets rejected).  It really is a show full of laughs and several funny songs with plenty of audience participation.
