Great Fun Day at Morgado with 3 teams of 4 playing Texas Scramble with a slight twist.

In fine weather the three teams battled to win the top prize and also keep an eye on the weather as rain was promised.
Winners were Brian Parker’s Team who’s members were, Neil McKiver, Reg Balmforth and Ian Bedford with a fine score of 42 points
Runners up were Steve Bossom’s Team with Bjorn Bowman, Alan James and Jeremy Verling with 35 points
Third were Bob Cavanagh’s Team with David Quinton, Ron Ellis and Les Medcroft with 34 points
All Three Teams playing with a Handicap of 9
And we were lucky enough to beat the rain as it fell heavily whilst leaving the car park.

Rocking On The West Coast

By Matt D’Arcy

If the American west coast is famous for its music, the Algarve’s west coast is also bidding for its own rock ‘n’ roll reputation.

This weekend brings the two-day Under The Radar festival of rock, blues and surf music to Vale da Telha, here on our coastal plateau outside Aljezur, within earshot of the Atlantic Ocean.

The festival, running through Friday October 26th and Saturday October 27th, features bands from all over Europe, in a celebration of live music and vinyl DJ’s on the land behind Hugo’s Bar alongside the Pines Roundabout, the central hub of Vale da Telha.

And the organisers are planning for it to be a family festival, with a children’s area, including a Pirate’s Air Castle (free entry for children under 12 with supervision), Loco Bingo, and a Local Creative Crafts Market, alongside food and drink areas.

There will be two stages on site, the smaller of the two featuring local singer/songwriters in the two afternoons.

Headlining the Festival on Friday is Portugal’s Anarchicks band, with an explosive mix of indie and punk.

And Saturday’s headliner is the Johnson Four from the Netherlands, a top Surf Rock band, with both nights featuring international bands and Portuguese artists in support.

THE PROGRAMME:

Friday 26th October (Start 2.00 pm, finish 12.00 pm)

Main Stage: Anarchicks, Mojo Groove, Chiclete com Batata Doce, Vale da Telha African percussion group, Swimwear Fashion Show.

Open stage: Iris Johner, Rob du Preez

Saturday 27th October (Start 2.00pm, finish 12.00 pm)

Main Stage: The Phantom Four, Creepin’ Johnson, The Twist Connection, Kindom Stage, Groovemeister Abbey

Open stage: Beardy Souls, Michele Loop.

Early Bird weekend tickets (now sold out)  with later bookings for the full weekend (2 days) priced at €25  Tickets for Friday or Saturday cost €15 (for each day)
