The Cavern is coming to the West Coast!
Yes, that’s right—on Saturday April 30th Amovate and the Restaurante Fonte do Vale on the Pines Roundabout will be saying “Welcome to the Vale da Telha Cavern”.
The iconic Liverpool club which was the heartbeat of Merseybeat is being recreated here on Vale da Telha for a spectacular 60s night of music from that era.
Steve Baker of Amovate’s entertainment committee will be building—inside the Fonte—a big, elevated replica of the famous arched brickworked Beatles stage, which will feature two live sessions in this spectacular 60s event.
So, come on all you Baby Boomers—let’s swing again to the Swinging 60s!
Nostalgia is the name and nostalgia is the game as ‘The Bottles’—ranked as the Algarve’s best Beatles tribute act—and their alter ego ‘Back To The Sixties’ take to the “Cavern” stage in a tribute not just to the Beatles but also to the music of that era.
And there is a solid link to the Cavern, because The Bottles wanted to be so authentic that they made their own pilgrimage to play at that classic venue, still a major tourist attraction in Liverpool’s Matthew Street.
But don’t forget, the planet’s most famous club wasn’t home just to the Beatles—world class performers like Elton John, The Rolling Stones, Queen, the Who, Stevie Wonder, the Kinks, the Yardbirds, Oasis, the Hollies, Chuck Berry, John Lee Hooker, Sonny Boy Williamson and many others also took to that seminal stage.
That means there will be a huge range of 60s music being played at this major event, with intervals for dancing hosted by a deejay before, during and after the band’s live performances.
The event is the latest in the ‘Amovate in the Community’ programme, aimed at supporting local businesses by organising entertainment on their own premises.
And Steve, a member of Amovate’s three-man entertainment committee (the others are Steve Scott and Rick Hursthouse), declared:
“We really want this to be another fun evening, so, even though it is not compulsory, we would certainly welcome it if some of those attending turned up in fancy dress relating to the 60s era. They’ve certainly got a lot of choices!”
Tickets for this 60s extravaganza cost only €5—did you know the Beatles were paid just £5 for the first of their 292 appearances at the Cavern on February 9th 1961!—and will be available from the Amovate committee members listed below and also from the Fonte do Vale restaurant itself.

Ticket numbers will be limited to just 80, so it is important to get yours early as it is expected that they will sell out quickly.
Doors open at 7.30pm and food will be available throughout from the bar.
The band’s opening set ‘Back To The 60s’ will take to the stage at 8.30pm, playing a range of music from that era.
And at 10pm they don their Fab Four personna as their tribute act ‘The Bottles’ steps onto this recreated Cavern stage to bring the Beatles’ music back to life.
Be there—or be square!
