Halloween 2011
It was a “horrible” night—and that made it a huge success for Bob, Oggy and Steve who created a truly horrifying experience with their Halloween party at the Old School House.
As the photographs show, on entry you passed through the Tunnel of Terror and into the mist-shrouded witches’ cave where the old hag sat over her bubbling cauldron.
Bob Packham and Dave Ogborn, with more than considerable assistance from Sue and Helen created a truly atmospheric setting given an even more magical ambience by Steve Baker’s lighting, sound effects and smoke machine which all helped to conjure up a truly haunting experience.
And the vast majority of the revellers, who stayed beyond the Witching Hour, entered into the spirit of things by wearing the most wonderful costumes that cast an entrancing spell over the entire evening.
It was a rewarding experience in many ways as “Dracula”, aka Paul Gates, didn’t so much kick the bucket, as take it around the partygoers and “put the bite” on them for a donation, raising an impressive total of €166.00 (which included the proceeds of a raffle held on the night) to be handed over to Amovate’s Charity Fund.
As Sue Bateman said afterwards: “A BIG thank-you to Bob, Oggy and all the other helpers for a brilliant Halloween.
“The costumes were fantastic and everyone got in to the spirit of the night. I hope this is the first of many such events.”
And Bergy added: “Brilliant night – lots of new faces, and congratulations to Bob & Oggy on the ‘Tunnel of Horror.’
The Best Costume awards went to Olive and Terry Stacey, with Laura and Daniela winning the children’s prize.
