Amovate is a non-profit charitable organisation that warmly welcomes everyone, whatever your nationality or background, who has a connection to the local area — whether you have lived here for years or have only just arrived. Our home is the Old Schoolhouse, located just 150 metres past Vales at the road junction where the road splits to Vale da Telha on the right and Arrifana on the left. It is an easy place to find and a friendly place to visit, where new faces are always welcome.

We help connect the community with the local council (Câmara), ensuring residents’ voices are heard. Through regular meetings with the President and members of his team, we raise concerns, share ideas, and discuss matters that affect everyday life in the area. We do our very best to support the community and advocate for positive change within the resources available.

We work openly and constructively with elected representatives to support residents and respond to the needs of our community. Amovate is politically independent and does not support any political party.

Amovate is run entirely by volunteers — We all share a common aim: to support residents of Vale da Telha and neighbouring areas, help people feel settled, and build a strong, inclusive community where everyone feels they belong.

The Old Schoolhouse is also a welcoming social hub, offering a wide range of activities that make it easy to meet people and get involved. Regular classes include Keep Fit, Dance Instruction, Pilates, Yoga, and more. There are also outdoor activities such as Tennis, Walking (the Striders), Golf, and Walking Football. Whether you are looking to stay active, make friends, or simply feel more connected, there is something for everyone.
