The final arrangements have now been made for the Chicken & Chips evening on Saturday at the Karisma following a meeting between Antonio, Val & Steve and a couple of Amovate Committee members.

First of all we can assure everyone that there will be enough seating to handle the numbers after the 100 tickets were quickly sold out—enough for 100-120, according to Antonio.

And there will be plenty of cover with Amovate providing a couple of large Gazebos, just in case it should rain, to complement the various areas of cover already at the Karisma.

Although the event gets under way at 4pm we stress that you don’t have to rush to be there for that time—turn up at any time during the evening that suits you.

In fact it would help the serving of food and drinks if everyone didn’t turn up at the same time!

Val will be preparing the food and three other people will be serving it, so no-one should have to wait too long.

And two people, one of them Antonio, will be taking your drinks orders, so, again, there shouldn’t be any delays in getting your drinks.

Because of the numbers Antonio asks that people pay for their drinks at the bar as they order them, rather than wait to settle their bills as they leave.

(It would also help if people can try and bring plenty of change!)

As you already know, of course, food comes in the form of chicken and chips, included in the ticket price of just €5, with the option of buying a soup and roll starter for an additional €1.50.

But Val will also be preparing salad, which will be available for those wishing to order it, at an additional €1.

As for the entertainment there will be background music playing from the start.

But from 6pm Brian Jutsum will be your DJ, providing music from the 60s, 70s,80s, etc., and taking requests from you, the revellers.

Brian is so confident of his full repertoire that he says if anyone asks him to play a track from their requested artist that he doesn’t have he will provide that person with a special free drink of his own making!

As Amovate’s main raison d’etre is to raise money for charity Brian says:

“I was thinking maybe of asking for a voluntary small charge (say any coin of 10, 20 cents or 50 cents) per request, dropped in a bucket with the proceeds to go Amovate’s nominated charity this year.”

Arte Dentro – Festival of Culture in Aljezur is, as the name indicates, an event that aims to bring together the artistic producers residing in the municipality of Aljezur.

There will be a small stall provided to Amovate by the Camara to display our activities.

During six days in the EMA (Multipurpose space Aljezur) visitors can see about 300 works exhibited by approximately artists and craftspeople, and participate in a series of Knowledge Workshops and thematic workshops, watch a variety oflive music, sample some traditional culinary delicacies from Aljezur and purchase some local products.

11 local associations that will show the cultural work they have been developing.

With free entry, the ArteDentro – Culture Festival – Aljezur runs from May 4^th, 5^th, 6^th,11^th, 12^th and 13^th  from 15:00 to 23:00 daily, with the opening scheduled for May 4 at 6pm.

The Festival is an initiative of the Board of Aljezur with the patronage of the Mutual Agricultural Credit St. Teotónio
