The Members of the Amovate Committee would like to thank everyone for their support during 2011 and wish you all a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy, Healthy and Peaceful New Year.

Christmas Grotto

Bob and Oggy followed up their hugely successful Hallowe’en Party by bringing a wondrous winter wonderland to Vale da Telha.

These two highly imaginative characters transformed the Amovate HQ at The Old School House into a magical fairyland Grotto full of Santas, elves, snowmen, Christmas trees, a Santa’s sleigh pulled by Rudolph and his red nose, not to mention a very authentic hearth complete with blazing log fire!

And the uplifting mood was heightened once again by the brilliant lighting and sound effects created by Steve.

The whole magical scene brought gasps of astonishment and admiration from the 100 or so people (including some very wide-eyed children) who attended possibly the finest and most authentic Christmas Party ever seen in this part of the Algarve.

They entered the building via a dazzling pine-scented tunnel through Santa’s Grotto, and into the beautifully decorated main hall where Santa rode in his sleigh, with Rudolph (beautifully made by Cath Baker) leading the way.

All the guests brought an abundance of food that provided two incredible buffets before music and dancing continued until around 1.30 am Sunday morning!

As Denise posted on the VdT website: “WOW! What a fabulous night it was, truly amazing! I really enjoyed it and the decorations were fantastic.”

Even before the night was over Bob and Oggy, who had spent weeks preparing, planning, creating and setting up the whole thing—helped enormously by wives Sue and Helen and Bob’s son Carl—were plotting their next themed event.

Early whispers are that it is going to be a real spectacular, providing a great deal of fun and laughs….so watch this space!

But first the real story of this December Night of Magic is told in this selection of photographs….. (don’t forget to double click on an image, and it will present itself as a larger photo)
