Results – January Society Day

Sorry for the late posting of the results from our January Competition played at Morgado, in what can only be described as cold and unforgiving conditions, who would believe frost and driving cold winds at times.

First place went to Brian Parker with a tremendous score of 41 points, second was Liam Byrne with a respectable 37, congratulations too both players.

Longest drive went to Manni Pinto on the 6th hole, and unfortunately nobody manage to hold the 17th green for nearest the pin.

Two teams with combined scores of 118 points shared the spoils of best fourball they consisted of.

Well done to all players who despite the conditions made our golf day a success, and let’s look forward to our next competition in February.

I believe that congratulations are in order for Manni Pinto who continues his good run of form by winning at Salgados with a score of 44 points in a recent Golf For Greys Competition, well done Manni.

TURKEY SHOOT RESULTS

A highly enjoyable day at the Alamos where we played a Bramble team event finished with the following result

Jerry Woodcock, Chris Dickens, Roel Pluim & Brian Parker, with a score 136. Jerry recorded the highest individual score of 41 points

This is open to all members who play 4 or more events and is awarded to the person achieving the best average stableford score.

and the award goes to

Chris Dickens with an average of 33 points

other notable scores included Bob Cavanagh whose average exceeded 30 points

BEST INTERMEDIATE PLAYER

This is open to all members with a handicap of 25 or higher who play 4 or more events and is awarded to the person achieving the best average stableford score.

other notable performances included Dorine Lensvan Rijn with an average of 29.2

ANNUAL MATCHPLAY TOURNAMENT

This was won by Geoff Costigan who defeated Chris Dickens in final and so retained the trophy he won last year.

Congratulations to the winners and thanks to all the members who played during the year.

We had excellent conditions for playing golf last Thursday and the scoring was of a high standard.
