Twenty circus performers are going to explore how acrobatic language can reflect and make a creative contribution to our public spaces: a building, a neighbourhood, a landscape – to offer a moment, a personal emotion, “a slight distortion of the reality” that we know.
Their mission: to experience the entrance of the glimmer of an adventure, not in the shadow or darkness of a theatre, but in the light of a village.
Based in France, this leading circus collective has presented its exhilarating work in many countries around the world, experimenting in this creation, the relationship between artistic practices and performance in public space.
Over a week in March 2019, they met the realities of Aljezur and Monchique, collecting raw material and discovering a “fragile paradise”, made of blazes and waves, between ‘medronhos’ and sweet potatoes. A thousand accents that expose a multilayered territory, in which memories are carried and stories perspired. A place of many beauties and aspirations in an “imperfect yet magnificent balance”.
LES VOYAGES is a collective and silent construction, an ephemeral and sensitive architecture of bodies, where fragile and emotional encounters between artists and strangers are forged.
This is a circus odyssey out of the ordinary, strongly sensory and visual, full of hidden treasures, which will create an unforgettable experience.
