Amovate Support Local Charity Again

The Charity, St. Vincente de Paul Society, are at the moment supporting 30 families for Christmas Dinner.  Amovate have decided to help out again by donating €500 towards this cause.

Last year the numbers were fewer, but since the pandemic more families have fallen on difficult times and Amovate agree that Christmas should be enjoyed by all.

 Amovate asked people who were attending the Party on the 4th December (which unfortunately is cancelled due to the new Government Rules on Covid), to take something along to help in this time of need.  Perhaps there are people who still wish to donate gifts (non perishable items) no matter how small, and as usual the box at the Restaurante Fonte Do Vale is still in place just inside the door of the front porch. Hopefully these gestures will make things a bit better for the families over the Festive period.

We have also been asked if we will accept cash donations, well the answer is yes!.   If you make contact by emailing info@amovate.com we will be happy to make that arrangement. Your details will be passed onto Amovate’s Treasurer who will be happy to give the Bank Details so transfers can be made.

Last year Amovate supported the same cause and many people, some non members, donated food and non-perishable items,  which was much appreciated.

 Thanking you all in anticipation of your help

4th December – Party

Due to the current Covid situation, and new regulations coming into force on 1st December, Sofia from the Restaurante Fonte do Vale, on our behalf, sought clarification from the GNR and the Câmara.
Having taken their advice and recommendations, it is with much regret that Amovate has taken the decision to cancel this event.
Hopefully, another event can be organised for some time in the future.
For those who have already collected your tickets from the Restaurante Fonte do Vale, if you take them back, you will be handed your envelope with your money inside.
Apologies for this, and thank you for your continued support.

Donation to the Aljezur Bombeiros

UPDATE:

Further to our recent donation of 2100 bottles of water in July, Amovate have purchased a further 2100 bottles to add to their store, as the recent fires has seen the store cupboard looking nearly empty.

 The water will be delivered to the Station today,  and we thank all our members for helping us make this much needed donation.

 Membership fees as well as other income sources allow these worthy causes to be supported, so please continue to help us help others.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Amovate Committee have decided to donate 2100 x 0.5ltr bottles of water to the Aljezur Bombeiros to store at the Station House for use in emergency fire situations, for refreshing the crews fighting fires.
 Generally the support comes from the Associação Alerta de incendio Florestal /Forest fire Alert who will back up local support with food and water in extreme situations.
 The contact for this area is Sally Henman and with her daughter Selina they respond to calls for help and deliver goods to the station house or close to the Fire Point.
 Amovate of course have always supported the Bombeiros, and are helping out whilst Sally recovers from an operation on her arm.
 Generally obtaining large amounts of hand held water from shop shelves can prove difficult, and we ask that maybe when you’re out shopping you might buy a pack and keep it until there is a need to take it to a collection point.
 Hopefully the water Amovate have supplied will not be required but I doubt that very much.
Amovate Disability Tools
Amovate have been gifted as a charity, some valuable tools to help our members if they need assistance. We now have an Electric Bed that enables the patient to sit and or sleep in a comfortable position, another Wheel Chair, a Commode and a Toilet Assist Chair to raise the height. Also a Walking Frame with wheels and brakes.
 If you are in need of any of these please contact info@amovate.com and we will make contact with you.
Amovate Member donation to Charity
Amovate Member Donation to ACASA CLDS4G for children and families in poverty
Amovate member Marlene Scott whiled away the long and dark winter evenings over several years by doing jigsaws. Normally after completion they are broken up and put back in the box they came in. However, Marlene had a different idea which was to glue and mount them so that they could be displayed in the lower level of their villa.
As you will see in the video 44 jigsaws were displayed with many containing 3,000 pieces. Due to moving in the not too distant future the question was what to do with them when there would be no space available to display them in the property they will eventually move into. The decision was quite easy to make and donate them to CLDS4G where they could follow two options. One to give some to the children they look after and put a smile on their faces and the second to sell the remaining ones to raise funds.
The video was put together by CLDS4G along with some suitable music which was their idea to do to promote the jigsaws.
Therefore thanks to Aida Machado, Project Coordinator, and  colleague Sandra Nunes for their efforts and dedication to this charity.
