Calling all music lovers — “Summer’s here and the time is right for dancing in the street” so the song goes, and yes, we plan to do just that.

We have another fun Sunday afternoon planned, with music by The Buzz as part of their 2023 Algarve tour.

We have a selection of 6 oz handmade gourmet beef burgers in a toasted sesame seed bun, along with a couple alternatives:

  • Hawaiian Burger with lettuce, tomato and chargrilled pineapple and onion.
  • American Dinner BLT with or without cheese.
  • BBQ Grilled Chicken
  • Spicy Bean Burger (vegetarian option)

All served with potatoes in mayonnaise and spring onion, plus a mixed salad and three sauces.

Members are able to book non-members as part of their party i.e. visiting family for example.

If you want to be guaranteed to sit with friends or family book your entire party on a single ticket, then don your shorts, bikini, flip flops, water wings, or a John Ingham super bright shirt, and head on down to Hugo’s on the 6th August.

The Big 70’s Bash Sell-out

Thank you to all that attended the Amovate’s 70s bash and made it a memorable afternoon. Congratulations to the music quiz winners which were Helen Ogborn’s team, who received a round of drinks courtesy of Hugos Bar, and to Amanda Murphy and Den Rutter who won the fancy dress prizes of 2 pizzas and drinks each provided by Hugos Bar.

The Abba Divas were outstanding, and also send their thanks for singing and dancing along and making it a great afternoon.

We were honoured to have the debut performance of the VDT PEOPLE with their interpretation of the YMCA dance, thanks fellers you were real sports.

These events need a little organising, so thanks to those who built the stage and cooked the food and generally keeping the event ticking over, and the best bit is we are doing it all over again on the 6th of August. This time a Summer Beach Party Theme complete with a new food menu.

More information will be available shortly.

As we do regularly, Amovate once again has donated to the Bombeiros Voluntários de Aljezur 2,100 half-litre bottles of drinking water to slake the thirsts of crews fighting fires in the coming months.

Amovate donates 2,100 bottles of drinking water to Bombeiros Aljezur

Battling fires in the heat of the sun, drinking water can be a life saving gift which, in this instance, is being supplied by our Membership.

Residents who might wish to support the Bombeiros can do so by becoming a Partner of the Bombeiros Voluntários de Aljezur. Ask at their Station House in Aljezur you can fill a form in and make the donation (minimum €12 per year)  which will be gratefully received.

Please become a member and support their ongoing frontline battle. And if you need the use of an Ambulance anytime in the future, you will get it at a greatly reduced charge.

The summer has arrived, so it must be time to fire up the party atmosphere. Amovate has three great events organised for your entertainment. To kick off the summer we have a 70’s music and BBQ party on the 11th June (see poster). The BBQ will be chicken / ribs or vegetarian pizza with chips and coleslaw. This will be our first event of the year, and with no expense spared we have the pleasure to announce the best tribute band in the Algarve: ABBA Divas will be performing for you.

Since it’s a 70s party, fancy dress is encouraged, with prizes for the best costumes. But don’t worry if its only the music you like. That’s cool, too. Just bring your dancing shoes!

See if you can answer this question correctly:
“Who started the best Christmas song of the 70’s with:
“It’s Christmas!”
• Elvis
• Cliff Richard
• Noddy Holder
If you have the answer, go straight to the Amovate website and order your tickets today. Be quick, this will be a sell-out!
