The Municipality of Aljezur promoted, last Thursday, April 14, 2022, two nest box construction workshops, with the collaboration of the Vita Nativa Association – Nature Conservation, responsible for the Local Bird Housing Project, which aims at the installation and maintenance of nest boxes, in order to promote the diversity of birds throughout the Algarve region, environmental conservation and nature conservation.

They were held in two distinct periods, one aimed at the younger population and had the collaboration of AMOVATE – Association of Residents and Friends of the Valley of Telha, and another directed to the senior population of the municipality of Aljezur in collaboration with Tertúlia – Socio Cultural Association of Aljezur.

The activity consisted of the construction of nest boxes, which were later installed in the enclosures where the activities were held (Vale da Telha and Serominheiro) in the municipality of Aljezur, and will be monitored by the technicians of the Vita Nativa Association.

In this activity the importance of the bird species present in our county was explained, such as the chapim, demonstrating all the benefits that the fixations of these species bring to society and its well-being.

This initiative aimed to promote nature conservation, disseminate and enhance the natural heritage, as well as contribute to active participation in the Defence of the environment, providing a more direct contact of the population.
