BPI Bank Charity Appeal

BPI CharityYou may remember last Christmas the BPI Bank in Aljezur were collecting books as presents for needy children of Aljezur to ensure they had at least one present on Christmas morning.

The success of this being achieved, was mainly down to residents of Vale Da Telha who went into the bank and donated a present or money to buy one.

This year BPI Bank have approached Amovate to ask if we could promote their Charity Appeal again, for this Christmas.  The procedure is the same as last year – just pop into the bank and you can choose a child to donate a present to. Fernando and the rest of the staff have all the details and will be there to help.

Festival da Batata-Doce

According to the VisitAlgarve website the Aljezur Sweet Potato Festival is “The most famous autumn food festival south of the River Tagus”.

This year’s Festival, in the large multi-purpose pavilion beyond the cemetery, will keep to the previous successful formula over three days from midday on Friday November 29th to 10pm on Sunday December 1st.

The annual event is designed to raise the profile of the area’s most famous product, steeped in tradition at the centre of a region where the sun, soil, waters, clean air and climate allow the unique cultivation of a sweet potato that has a characteristic flavour, which is different and of an internationally-recognised quality.

The huge hall will be filled with a variety of stands promoting a vast diversity of products, including a special emphasis on local specialities, with entertainments taking place throughout each of the three days.

According to the website there will also be a food court where you can enjoy unique recipes. Visitors will also be invited to learn from some of the best and extensive range of recipes based on the famous sweet potato of Aljezur—a good enough reason to mark the dates in your calendar!

Aljezur & Lagoa Choirs

There will be a concert with the Aljezur and Lagoa choirs this Sunday in the church in Igreja Nova. Entrance is free and the performance begins at 17:00 hrs.

Although the setting is in the church, the music isn’t religious.  It is varied and in a variety of languages. The programme includes a medley from Les Miserables.

O Paulo Restaurant Closed for 2 weeks

O Paulo Restaurant in Arrifana will be closed for two weeks from Monday 4th November until 22nd November.

 

They will be re-opening on Saturday 23rd November with a party to celebrate their one Year Anniversary.  So from 5:30 pm onwards  come along and enjoy some good food, and live music compliments of O Paulo.
