Amovate Entertainment
The summer has arrived, so it must be time to fire up the party atmosphere. Amovate has three great events organised for your entertainment. To kick off the summer we have a 70’s music and BBQ party on the 11th June (see poster). The BBQ will be chicken / ribs or vegetarian pizza with chips and coleslaw. This will be our first event of the year, and with no expense spared we have the pleasure to announce the best tribute band in the Algarve: ABBA Divas will be performing for you.

Since it’s a 70s party, fancy dress is encouraged, with prizes for the best costumes. But don’t worry if its only the music you like. That’s cool, too. Just bring your dancing shoes!

See if you can answer this question correctly:
“Who started the best Christmas song of the 70’s with:
“It’s Christmas!”
• Elvis
• Cliff Richard
• Noddy Holder
If you have the answer, go straight to the Amovate website and order your tickets today. Be quick, this will be a sell-out!

New Heart Defibrillator

Amovate are pleased to announce that a Heart Defibrillator has now been installed at the Pines Roundabout, by Junta de Freguesia Aljezur. It’s the first in the Aljezur Region and is now operative.

If someone has a cardiac arrest, make sure you

  • Firstly ring 112 to alert the Bomberios
  • Start CPR chest compressions
  • Get someone else to collect the Defibrillator from the box:

Open the 2 catches top and bottom and open the door, you will see a closed transparent inner box which is locked. Press the button and talk to the operators, they will release the door remotely. A code will be sent to allow this to be used as the defib will be tracked by satellite.

Follow the instructions on the Defibrillator.

Walking Football

Walking football is coming to Aljezur. This game was developed for the veteran player aged 50 plus for fun, fitness and friendship. Open to all nationalities, genders, ages and levels including beginners.

Weekly matches will kickoff Monday, May 15 at 10 am at the Juventude Clube Aljezur (near the Câmara offices and the central round-a-bout.)

The new activity is the culmination of six months effort by organiser Tony Wyld, has the support of the municipality and, if it grows as he hopes, the location will soon shift to the first class facilities at the Campo Municipal football park.

Participation is open to anyone. Though, as the name might imply, it’s primarily aimed at the over-50 crowd. “Walking football is basically the same as the ‘beautiful game’ we all know and love except no running is allowed,” says Wyld. “All levels of skill will be welcome… even those who have never kicked a ball in their lives.”

Sports shoes are a must. Bring a bottle of water. There will be no fee for the first session, after that there will be a €2.00 donation to help pay for balls, bibs, etc. There’s no obligation to come every week, either. It’s a drop-in game. Spectators are welcome. Down the road, Wyld says they even hope to compete in tournaments against other teams in the Algarve.
