Notes of AGM January 2018

Date : 10th January 2018

31 members were present and therefore the meeting started at 15.30 on time.

AGENDA

1.   Introduction by the President of the Assembly informing members of the agenda.

As the President of the General Assembly was not available the Vice-President of the

Committee fulfilled this requirement and also thanked everybody for attending.

2.   Resume of the past years work was given by the secretary.

      Last Year 2017
– Windows repaired but still working on remaining payment from the Câmara.
– Donations :-
– Bombeiros. 500 Euro

  – Petanca Club 242.93 Euro
– Cath´s well known charity walk 250€
This realised a total of over 2,700€ which gave :-
An electric wheelchair for 13 year old Nuno who has a degenerative condition. We
helped Cath deliver it in November and his face was a picture to remember. We
can only say watch out Louis Hamilton.
To the Special Needs Children in Aljezur school equipment for a sensory room to
help the children relax including a bubble machine, projector, fibre optic lights and
a couple of large bean bags.
– Petanca Club. Support for levelling out the mian playing area which is now blocked off
and sponsor of T-shirts for their team in the league. This year finishing 8th.
– Increased use of the hall with classes of Pilates, Yoga, African Dancing, Line Dancing,
Boxing and Keep Fit.

– On the downside we ran less social events. This being due to local establishments picking
up the ball from what we have previously organised and offering equal or better and more
frequent and varied entertainment – solo artists, groups, disco and Fado. Also we cannot
compete with their prices. This is good not just for locals but tourists also.

This Year 2018.
– One event definitely planned is an evening to support the Bombeiros in their never ending
fire fighting role. This will feature the Beatles tribute band “The Bottles” on May the 25th.
This will be a ticket only event. In other words no ticket, no entry and no drinks can be
purchased in case anybody sneaks through. Watch for the advertising and please support it.
– Our intention is to focus more on the Câmara this year to try and get them to understand
and realise the importance of the area – VdT, Arrifana, Monte Clerigo, Espartal and Vales.
Primarily to bring their attention to making improvements in pratically all areas including
house hold rubbish and collection of, green waste and condition of roads. We have seen what
they can do when they want to in Arrifana. there are other issues on the list but are not as
important as those mentioned. Hopefully this years committee can move forward on these
issues and to have, hopefully, confirmed bi-monthly meetings instead of an if and when
situation. This may be easier said than done but we intend to persevere.

3.   Presentation of Accounts which was approved

4.   Committee for Election – There was one voting list which was presented to the Assembly and

all were unanimously elected. List attached with Posts designated. Proposed by Faith Quinton

      and seconded by Kate Lang

5.   Any Other Business :-

   – Post Boxes.

Can they be better sheltered against wet weather to prevent rain entering the boxes resulting in

      wet post.

Consider an annual fee to ensure full maintenance.

Consider a social event to cover any sheltering costs.

  – Defibrillator at VdT Hotel

Ensure this is well known to new members.

  – Events

A list of all Amovate events should be posted at the Amovate building.

For Information!

For information: Parking on a roundabout is illegal. This includes the Pines roundabout at the entrance to Vale da Telha.

The GNR are actively policing this roundabout on VDT adjacent to the 3 bars. It appears the main reason is that cars and other vehicles stop and or park on the roundabout to either meet people or to collect post and parcels…….

You are warned, use the car parking areas close by and save yourself a lot of Euros….Even the CCT Van now parks in the car park and walks to deliver the letters in the Post Boxes.
