First British Legion West Coast Luncheon
The Algarve Branch of the Royal British Legion (Portugal) held their first-ever west coast luncheon last week in Aljezur.
Members (some of them newly-recruited former service personnel) and guests enjoyed the afternoon on the terrace of the Pont’a Pe Restaurant in Aljezur, overlooking the Rio de Aljezur.
Organiser Sue Howe declared: “It was a lovely opportunity to extend the reach of the RBL here in Portugal along the West Coast and we had a very good turnout.
“Members old a new had a terrific time, and apparently the laughter could be heard echoing from the lower terrace, right up to the street above.
“It was a great success—with a promise of more to come—and the funds raised have been put towards the Poppy Appeal”.
There will also be a lunch for the Central Algarve branch at the Holiday Inn, Armacao de Pera on Wednesday 20th May which again is open to RBL members, and non members alike, with no extra charge for non members.

From 1st May 2015 telephone numbers for the British Consulates in Portugal are changing. If you need assistance, consular staff can be contacted throughout the week on 21 392 4000 for the British Consulate in Lisbon, and 282 490750 for the British Vice Consulate in Portimao.
Our Consular team in Portugal is available to provide assistance Monday to Friday, from 9.00 am to 4.30pm. In an out of hours emergency these numbers will also connect you to the Foreign Office in London, where consular assistance is provided 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The consulates in Lisbon and Portimão are open to the public for personal appointments, or walk-in assistance, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9.30am to 2pm.

10th May 2015 Farmacia Fun Event
Amovate have been asked to promote this Event for very worthy cause by Solange Escobar the Director of the Farmacia who is a “friend” of Amovate and its Members.
She has sent a message and asked us to publicise the event in the hope that many of you will join in the fun.
The Message Reads:-
Hello,
The Aljezur Farmacia will be holding on May 10 2015 (Heart Month) a walk in solidarity to promote a healthy lifestyle whilst raising funds for two local institutions.
Having regard to the contingencies that the pharmaceutical sector lives today, with the challenge for any company in the industry, you must make choices but then it is necessary to provide a service that requires, reliability and proximity to that end I hereby invite you to be part of this our faith and ask for your support by sponsoring this event which will start with a walk around the historic route of the castle of Aljezur.
The meeting point is the pharmacy and the walk will also end at the same point, Then a class of Zumba, for all to participate and then the Farmacia staff will take measurement of blood pressure and blood sugar all this with a minimum stake of € 2.
We would like to reward participants with gifts, water and bags, for that we have your help and about 200 participants!!
